E-Bike Laws

For use on Australian roads and bike paths, there are set limits to speeds and motor wattages for ebikes (electric bikes).

These main laws include:
*ebikes must not exceed 25km per hour
*ebikes cannot have a stated power output of more than 200w without pedel assist (pedalec)
*ebikes can have a maximum power output of 250w with pedal assist
*ebikes cannot have a throttle button/system with capability of accelerating above 6km per hour

Riders found not complying with the above laws on Australian roads and pathways will be faced with harsh penalties which include unregistered vehicle and uninsured vehicle charges.

Beebikes Australia are compliant with Australian road laws and ensure that our ebikes meet the speed/motor wattage standards.
